I’ve got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots

  • Title Inspiring Song: “The Sound of Settling”-Death Cab for Cutie
  • New SocialVibe cause for December! In honor of December being Aids Awareness month, I picked Keep A Child Alive as this month’s cause. Did you know that when children are infected with HIV, 50% die before age 2 and 80% die before age 5? In the west, anti-retroviral therapy has transformed the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, but in the rest of the world only 1/3 of the 10 million people who need treatment have access to it. The main focus of KCA is to provide anti-retroviral treatment and care to children in need as well as to protect children orphaned by losing parents to AIDS. A great cause that deserves help…so click and help raise money for FREE. For more information about the cause, here’s their website:
  • It has been a long time since I have done a legitimate 2nd Sunday of the Month please send me suggestions for next Sunday 🙂

“Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships. Asking for what you want and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe,  and not what others believe.”~Barbara De Angelis

“Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.”~W. Clement Stone

Good evening SQers!! Hope your week went well and that hopefully it was less cold than mine. On a random note, can you believe it is already December? Time always seems to pass so quickly in the fall.

Sorry to disappoint those of who thought this post might be about food and hunger. Things with me always have a convoluted meaning. Like most people, I am sure you have a list of preferences, dreams, aspirations and goals within your head. There are certain situations in which circumstance prevents us from pursuing that which we desire. We can’t really plan for or avoid those situations. And then are the situations in which we act as our own obstacles to prevent ourselves from obtaining that which we want. Thus, we are left with a lingering hunger for that which we desire and deem ourselves unfit of attaining.

Why do we act as our own obstacles? We have a bunch of reasons…”I’m not smart enough…I’m not good enough..etc.” Somehow we talk ourselves into believing our self-fabricated fallacies. Give up or gung-ho.  Let’s examine what happens going down both paths. Path #1: We give up and convince ourselves that we do not/should not go after what we really want a.k.a. give up. We choose the easier path, but end up walking around not feeling  fulfilled and have a permanent hunger for what we gave up. Path#2: We choose to fight for what we truly want a.k.a. gung-ho. Sure it is a much harder path, but at the end we either are successful or are content to know that we tried the best we could and have no regrets at all.

By no stretch of the imagination, am i telling you that we should all become extremely arrogant, cocky and tell ourselves that we deserve to be highly esteemed and get everything we want. What I am telling you to do however is to not settle.  Have the courage to go after what you want, live truthfully and make choices which adhere to what you believe. Live with integrity. The best and most fulfilling way to live  is to go after your dreams and what you want full-throttle. In the end, you’ll find that you are much happier.

That’s all for now. Have an excellent week and send me ideas for next week’s post!

See you next Sunday,

❤ SQ
