What makes you different makes you beautiful

“We all have different desires and needs, but if we don’t discover what we want from ourselves and what we stand for, we will live passively and unfulfilled.”-Bill Watterson

“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”-Cecil Beaton

Good afternoon SQers! Happy Diwali to those of you who celebrate! It has been a while since I’ve posted and I apologize. I have missed posting, but things again have gotten unbelievably hectic around here. In the interim since my last post,  I hope you all have had productive, busy yet happy weeks. If not don’t worry I can’t say that I necessarily have had a few fantastic weeks either. With Thanksgiving and the holiday season fast approaching..things have to be on an upward swing..right? Here’s to hoping for that 🙂

As everyone knows there is a common path. The path that is tested and true, which everyone follows as a formulaic blueprint for how they should achieve whatever it is that they have their eyes set on. The tested and true path is a model for a reason. It has proven to be successful time after time for numerous people.  But it is important to remember that we are all different. As the Watterson quote says, we could all benefit from some introspection. We need some time with ourselves to figure out what it truly is that we want, desire and what makes us tick. At the core of our being, it is that which motivates us to get up every morning and continue to work as hard as we do.  It most likely will be something that is different from our friends and peers..as it should be.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being different. In fact, different is awesome. Different shows that you’re imaginative enough to have thoughts that might not always adhere to the norm. It also shows that you have a pulse inside and are not a robot.  The vast majority of people have different thoughts too, but few have the courage to act on those thoughts. It is infinitely easy to just follow the herd, but not as gratifying. So stick to you and what makes you…you. Dare to be different and I do not think you will find yourself disappointed. The road might be slightly harder, but in the end it will be worth it.

That’s all for now. Have a great week!

See you next Sunday,

❤ SQ

I’ve just taken back my Dutch maiden name after a divorce. I like to think that red tulip is me finally being myself!
