“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic,  but with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudice, and motivated by pride and vanity.”-Dale Carnegie

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not so sure about the universe.”-Albert Einstein

Good afternoon SQers! Hope this Sunday so far is going well for you and that your past weeks have not been too stressful and awful. This week for me was interesting and tested me in a particular way that I had not really anticipated.

We can’t expect to get along with everyone, to be best friends and one happy family as Barney promised. Given our different personalities  and life stories that situation is less than likely. It is probably more lucky that we actually find people who we mesh well with. This week for me to a certain extent  was the week of annoying people. All of the people whose personalities irritate me and that I do not particularly care for seemed to all find a way into my life.

Some of the experiences surprisingly ended up positive. That just goes to show you that you really do not know anyone until you sit down and try to get to know them. People have the power to surprise you…sometimes. Some of the other experiences this week were not as positive. I can think of one in particular that just got under my skin so much that to evade further confrontation I had to remove myself from the situation. I am a pretty patient person so for me to get to that extent, took a lot of aggravation.

Overall though, I think this week and those experiences were a testament to the people we encounter on a day-to-day basis. Dealing with people is a part of life unless we choose the life of a hermit and of isolation from the outside world. Along the way there are going to be people with extremely different personalities from yours who you immediately feel the instinct to dislike. But often it is those people with the personalities that are polar opposite to yours that you need to sit down, talk to and get to know. If anything the experience of working with those people might teach you about yourself. They are often the people who need the interaction the most and you can’t say you know them until you really get to know them. As stupid as you think they might be or futile the effort might be, there is nothing to lose from trying to be the better person. After all we are all human and creatures of the same type of emotions.

Well that’s all for now.  Practice being the bigger person this week instead of first choosing to get angry. Have a great week!

See you next Sunday,

❤ SQ

My problem is I like everyone in the beginning– even my polar opposite. But my polar opposite-type of person usually ends up not liking me. Then my feelings get hurt and I avoid the person.

Maybe I need to grow a couple of layers of skin this week!

    I enjoy your blog.
