“To live is the rarest thing in the world, most people exist that is all.”-Oscar Wilde

Welcome back SQ readers! Also, Happy Mother’s Day to all those mothers out there.  Here we are again with our different 2nd Sunday of the month “funky” post.

Goals, to-do lists, pre-requesites…we all have a bunch of things we feel as though we have to accomplish to get to some higher plateau of brilliance or stage of accomplishment. That’s the way society has become now so much to the point that we do little other than keep grinding and working towards that same ideal in our head. We don’t slow down because that would mean we are losing and we can’t have that right? So we keep pushing to the best of our ability with the same intensity or even more. Is that what we have decided life means? Pushing to one goal to only get there and look for the next one and keep pushing?

What about all those things you have always wanted to do, but told yourself you don’t have the time to do? Maybe it is to learn to sew, maybe to bungee jump or to learn a foreign language. Great, beautiful things that we can and should pursue we put on the back-burners because we think that we will get to them sometime later…someday when we have more time. Newsflash…as we get older we have less and less free time, more obligations and responsibilities.  So getting back to my question..what time is a good time? Waiting for someone else to tell us we have x amount of time left to live and then realizing all the things we wanted to do and should have done? Then we realize we have not been living, but instead are caught in some sort of scramble.

I have talked to a few of my friends  about making a “bucket list” of all the things we want to do before we die. It may seem way too early and a little premature, but it’s nice to have. Most of us have a bunch of ideas racked away somewhere deep in the folds of our brains, but pull them out, dust them off and actually write them down. Writing down is one way of making them more real to yourself and sort of committing. Believe it or not, I actually wrote one last semester over the course of a couple French classes.  This week, I am challenging all of you to write your own “bucket list” or life to-do list. Write down everything you want to do before you die ,even if it sounds “pointless” because if it matters to you, it isn’t. Write it down and feel free to add to it as much as you want. But take the time to accomplish and achieve some of the things on the list.  Have the courage to live and experience life to the fullest degree.

Later this week when I get home, I will upload my bucket list just so you all know that I did it too. But comment and share some of the things on your bucket list because I would love to hear about them and how you are achieving them.

As promised, here are a few things off of my bucket list:
